Fallen Hero

We should often take a moment to contemplate and be thankful and grateful to those who volunteer to risk their lives in uniform to defend our country. No matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, these young men and women volunteer to be on call to defend your life, liberty and your pursuit of happiness. Yes, I know, there are many debates over military policy, which is right and which is wrong, that's not the point. What we have are young men and women going where their government asks to them go, and too often paying the ultimate price. They don't get to debate, to protest, to complain, they agree to go when asked, in the hope that their mission will succeed and that their government is wise..... a government by the way, that is supposed to be us, by the people, for the people. And they deserve our thanks.

The MP3 link below is an arrangement of "The Fallen Hero" , a tune composed by Scottish composer Nathaniel Gow in the first part of the 19th Century. The arrangement is scored for an ensemble consisting of flute, Celtic harp and cello, with full orchestra joining in as the piece develops. This is the MP3 version of a composition that was originally performed at a memorial service for a fallen hero. Listen, and be thankful for all those who willingly stand day to day at our call if we need them......
