This composition is a transcription of a recording of a solitary Taoist monk playing a flute overlooking a mountain canyon in China. The monk improvised his solo, playing along with the marvelous echoes that his flute created in the canyon. The transcription captures the full effect of a remarkable solo improvisation, a flute, and the echoes of the canyon.
